GNSS Radio Sounding System

The GNSS radiosonde measures the vertical profile of temperature, humidity, pressure, wind and other meteorological variables and transmits the data to a ground-based receiving and processing station. It can be used to predict the weather accurately and improve the research of boundary layer.

Awards

Fully meets the operational requirements of CIMO guide, according to the “Instruments and Observing Methods Report No.107” issued by WMO in July 2011. The system was ranked 1st over Asia and 4th over world in the 8th WMO intercomparison of high quality radiosonde systems.

Ranked No.1 in all of the three times intercomparison organized by the Meteorological Observing Center of China Meteorological Administration since 2010.

Received positive evaluation result from European Center for Medium-range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) on data quality of Changfeng system used at the operational observation sites of Indian Met. Department in Aug. 2012
